Personal citizen number and ID card

Personal citizen number

The myinfo platform is expected to launch in May enabling every citizen to obtain a personal citizen number. The Minister of Digital Governance announced that the Joint Ministerial Decision will be finalized allowing citizens to access the platform, to review their information, correct any inaccuracies and receive their Personal Number. The number will comprise nine digits, most likely their Tax Identification Number and three capital letters of the Greek alphabet that correspond to homographs in the Latin alphabet.
The new identity cards will include the P.C.N. If an individual possesses an AMKA but no T.I.N., they must first obtain the latter to receive a P.C.N. All existing old identity cards will become invalid after August 2026. Citizens are required to schedule an appointment at a police station to update their identity cards. The necessary documents for obtaining a new identity card include:

a) Photograph, in digital format.
b) Application - solemn declaration, which will be granted to you by the Police
c) Application for the issuance of an identity card, which will be granted to you by the Police
d) Electronic fee (type 4485) 10 Euros
